CODE OF CONDUCT
GUDSA Code of Conduct
The Griffith University Dental Students’ Association (GUDSA) is dedicated to fostering a positive, respectful and inclusive environment for all members. As future healthcare professionals, we uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism, maintaining a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, violence or inappropriate behaviour.
This Code of Conduct outlines expectations for behaviour, procedures for addressing misconduct and resolution protocols for conflict. GUDSA is committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of its community and will take all necessary steps to address any violations of this policy.
This Code of Conduct applies to:

All GUDSA members, dental and oral health students and attendees at GUDSA events and activities.

All in-person and online interactions between GUDSA members, including social media and email communications.
Standards of Behaviour

Respect and Inclusion

All members must treat each other with respect, consideration and dignity.

Discrimination, harassment and bullying of any kind are strictly prohibited.

GUDSA strives to create an environment where everyone feels welcome, regardless of background, gender, sexuality, age, ability or religion.

Antisocial Behaviour

Any form of aggressive, disruptive or antisocial behaviour, such as verbal abuse, physical abuse or property damage, is strictly prohibited.

GUDSA Executives (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer), HR Team and Social Head have the discretion to remove individuals engaging in antisocial behaviour from GUDSA events.

The following are grounds for immediate action:

Being rude or disrespecting others, harassment, aggressive or intimidating behaviour: Grounds for ejection from the current event. Repeated offences may result in a lifetime ban.

Accidental destruction of property: May lead to ejection and case-by-case resolution.

Intentional destruction of property: Results in an automatic lifetime ban.

Physical or sexual assault: Results in a lifetime ban and formal reporting to the university and authorities.

Drink spiking: Results in a lifetime ban and mandatory reporting to authorities.

Alcohol Use and Safety

Alcohol at GUDSA events will be served by qualified staff or GUDSA committee members with Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certification.

Alcohol will not be served to minors, individuals who appear intoxicated or individuals exhibiting antisocial behaviour.

Sexual Harm Prevention and Response

Sexual harassment, assault or any unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature is strictly prohibited.

Members who experience or witness sexual misconduct are encouraged to report it using the GUDSA Incident Report Form.

Anyone affected by sexual misconduct is encouraged to access campus-based support services.

Commitment to Safety

GUDSA is committed to implementing safety protocols at events, including monitoring alcohol consumption and intervening if necessary to prevent any unsafe situations.

All event participants, including ticket holders, agree to abide by GUDSA’s Code of Conduct upon purchasing tickets or attending GUDSA events.
Reporting and Grievance Procedure
If you witness or experience behaviour that violates this Code of Conduct:

Use the GUDSA Incident Report Form, accessible through the GUDSA website. Reports will be reviewed by the Incident Report Committee (GUDSA President, Vice President and HR Team).

Offending individuals may be required to meet with the Incident Report Committee to address the situation within 48 hours of a report.

Actions will be determined on a case-by-case basis, with potential disciplinary measures including event exclusion, bans from future events and notification of the incident to Griffith University.
